Sunderland have signed Adnan Januzaj on loan from Manchester United.
David Moyes has told the Northern Echo that he was disappointed with Adnan Januzaj for getting sent off during Sunderland’s match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Januzaj picked up two second half bookings during the contest, which Sunderland lost 1-0.
The Manchester United loanee was first yellow carded for dissent, before he lunged into a rash challenge in stoppage time.
And Moyes said: “I was disappointed with Adnan, but I was also disappointed with the referee because it was a free-kick on the edge of the box and you could clearly see he was having his jersey pulled.
“But he (the referee) didn’t give it, and Adnan shouldn’t have spoken back to him. The second challenge could be a yellow card, but it actually looks worse on TV than it did standing pitchside.”
Januzaj will now be suspended for Sunderland’s match against Queens Park Rangers in the League Cup on Wednesday evening.
The 21-year-old has made a fairly positive start to life at the Stadium of Light, making six appearances and scoring once.
Januzaj has been brought to Sunderland to offer them an increased attacking threat, but Moyes’ side have struggled badly so far.
Sunderland are currently in 19th place in the Premier League table and they are still searching for their first top flight win of the season.
