George Honeyman has established himself as an important player for Sunderland this season.
Honeyman has come through the youth ranks at Sunderland and is now an important member of the first team.
The 23-year-old has started 29 games and made five substitute appearances in the Championship for the Black Cats so far this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists in the process.
Coleman told The Chronicle about Honeyman: “Do you know what? You could build around him if we were in the league above. They don’t grow on trees, George Honeymans.
“If we were in the Premier League and I was standing here I would say, ‘We can build around George Honeyman.’He’s that type of boy. He still young, he hasn’t played 50 games yet. He’s a top, top boy.”
Key player in League One next season?
Sunderland are having a horrible season in the Championship, and there is a very genuine chance that they will be playing in the League One in 2018-19.
The performances of the Black Cats have been dire, and the results have been hugely disappointing this campaign.
Honeyman has been one of Sunderland’s better performances so far this season, and the 23-year-old could be a key player for the Black Cats in League One in 2018-19.
Sunderland are at the foot of the Championship table at the moment with 28 points from 37 matches.
