Sunderland boss Chris Coleman makes admission about his relationship with Ellis Short

Sunderland are currently in 23rd pace in the Championship table, and look set to be relegated.

Chris Coleman has told the Sunderland Echo that he has no relationship with Ellis Short, because he never talks to the club’s owner.

Short has been trying to sell Sunderland for months now, but he has had no success in finding a buyer.

The Black Cats have suffered from a lack of investment in recent times, and Coleman’s future is now uncertain.

Sunderland look set to be relegated into League One, which has led to suggestions that Coleman to step aside.

However, the Welsh boss admits that he is looking to stay on at the Stadium of Light, as he feels he could help change Sunderland’s fortunes.

“It is hard for me to talk about Ellis (Short) because I haven’t spoken to the man,” Coleman revealingly admitted.

“I know what his plans are, to sell the club. If he can’t sell and we drop, I still want to manage Sunderland. I would like to have a crack at putting something together to do something in that league.

“It won’t be easy, but is is very doable.”

Sunderland are currently eight points adrift of safety, with just six matches remaining this term.

Birmingham City’s recent revival has been bad news for the Black Cats, with Garry Monk’s side starting to cut Sunderland adrift.

Sunderland are next in action tomorrow, when they take on Leeds United at Elland Road.
