Jeunes Footeux in France report that Sunderland are an option for Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson.
It’s claimed that Sunderland and Swansea City both fancy signing Sanson on loan during the January transfer window.
Lille and Strasbourg are also keen tabs on Sanson in the hope of luring him back to France in 2023.
This isn’t the strongest of the French sources, not quite like a L’Equipe, RMC Sport or Le Parisien.
Yet this rumours is a fascinating one given Sanson’s previous reputation and his fall at Villa.
Formerly of Montpellier and Marseille, Sanson was one of Ligue 1’s top midfielders before Villa agreed a £15.5million deal to sign him in January 2021.
Sanson has only ever started six Premier League games for Villa though and has barely been given a chance to impress in England.

Sanson left Marseille at the age of 26 and will have believed his best years were ahead in England.
Now 28, Sanson has barely played for nearly two years and it’s surely time for him to move on.
Sunderland could offer a temporary home until the summer but few could really blame Sanson if he preferred a move back to France in January.
