Sunderland are continuing their rebuild as the League One season edges ever closer.

Sunderland have spent the summer rebuilding their squad for their embarkment on League One, where they hope to gain promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking.
Jack Ross has made several signings to bolster his squad ahead of one of Sunderland’s biggest season in their recent history, with Dylan McGeouch, Chris Maguire and Jerome Sinclair being some of the new arrivals on Wearside.
O’Nien was a player who was instrumental in Wycombe’s promotion from League Two last term, with the youngster scoring eight goals and assisting on four occasions for the Blues.
The Hemel Hempstead born midfielder played 3128 minutes for Wycombe last season and averaged a goal every 391 minutes for the football league regulars.
According to the Sunderland Echo, O’Nien’s performances last season certainly caught the eye of several English clubs, with plenty of sides said to be keen on the former Watford youngster.

Sunderland have been on the hunt for a number of players, but in particular a midfielder, after the club parted way’s with Paddy McNair, Marc Wilson and Jack Rodwell, all of which played in a midfield role.
And O’Nien is certainly a player who could fill the midfield void left by last season’s departed players, with the Wycombe man also having a lot of experience at lower league level, having made two loan spells with Wealdstone in 2014 and 2015.
The League Two starlet will be keen to cement a place in the Black Cats’ starting XI and the youngster hasn’t got a lot of time to impress, with Sunderland’s season starting in just over a week, when they kick off their campaign against Charlton Athletic at the Stadium of Light.
