West Bromwich Albion have been linked with a summer move for Sunderland defender Lamine Kone.
Sunderland’s Lamine Kone is on West Brom’s radar
According to Sky Sports’ live transfer feed (16:48, June 7th 2017), West Brom are interested in signing Sunderland defender Lamine Kone this summer. And it is safe to say that the news has prompted a mixed response amongst the supporters of the two clubs who have taken to Twitter.
Sky Sports’ live transfer feed reports that Kone is looking to leave the Stadium of Light this summer following the Black Cats’ relegation to the Championship, and it appears that Tony Pulis is ready to hand him the chance to stay in the top flight by bringing him to the Hawthorns.
Kone endured a difficult year at Sunderland
The Baggies arguably do need to add to their options at the back with 37-year-old Gareth McAuley remaining a stalwart of the side and with Pulis boasting one of the smaller squads in the division.
But while signing Kone may have seemed like a much more appealing prospect last summer following his brilliant end to the campaign with Sunderland, it is hardly a surprise that the reported move for the 28-year-old has received a fairly lukewarm response on social media.

Kone was part of the Black Cats side that were comfortably relegated to the Championship, showing few glimpses of the quality he demonstrated the previous campaign that persuaded Everton to make a £18 million bid one year ago (via Sky Sports).
The Sunderland and West Brom fans who have been discussing the rumours seem to have mixed opinions on the idea, with many Black Cats supporters open to seeing the centre-back move on – especially if they receive a decent fee, though Sky Sports suggest that it will be significantly less than they could have received from Everton last summer – while some Baggies supporters appear to need convincing about Kone’s quality.
