Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Wigan Athletic have been linked with Jai Quitongo of Greenock Morton in the January transfer window.

It has been reported that Middlesbrough and Sunderland have been looking closely at the 20-year-old winger, but League One outfit Wigan are claimed to be readying a move for the youngster and are set to seal the deal.

The Scotland Under-21 international’s current contract with Morton runs out at the end of the season, and the winger has reportedly turned down the chance to sign a new deal with the Scottish Championship club.
Quitongo is a very talented and promising young winger, but Boro and Sunderland should probably aim for someone more established and with more experience.

Sunderland are struggling for survival in the Championship at the moment, and the Black Cats should be looking at players who can help them get out of danger.
As for Middlesbrough, they are aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship this season and need players who can enhance their chances of finishing in the playoffs.
