Sunderland should make a move for Aston Villa defender Micah Richards.
According to the Chronicle, Ross McCormack and Tommy Elphick are both on Aston Villa’s transfer wishlist and Simon Grayson should consider making a hat-trick of signings, by snapping up Micah Richards too.
Sunderland are needing to strengthen in every area of their squad, and the arrival of Richards could significantly improve the Black Cats’ side.
Although McCormack, Elphick and Richards have all struggled at Villa, a change of scenery could be perfect for them.

The trio are all proven performers at Championship level, and would offer Sunderland experience and quality.
Sunderland will need those qualities, if they are to transform their fortunes around in the upcoming campaign.
The Black Cats were desperately disappointing last term, and need to ensure that their losing habit does not carry over into the new term.
And by signing three Villa players with points to prove, their chances of achieving their aims could improve.
Sunderland would have to get the trio back to their best, but if Simon Grayson was able to do so – then the Black Cats could certainly benefit from their arrivals.
