Sunderland were beaten by Arsenal at the Stadium of Light in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Saturday’s early kick-off saw Sunderland hosting Arsenal at the Stadium of Light looking to pick up their first win of the season.
They failed to do that, with the Gunners instead running out as comfortable winners as Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud both grabbed two goals each to see their team to a 4-1 win.
It was an impressive display from the Arsenal forwards, especially Sanchez, who continued his fine form at the beginning of the season.
Before the game, we compared him with Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe to discover how the two players compared so far.
Sanchez came out on top in that comparison, so how did they match up in the stats during the game? We have taken a look.

It proved to be another victory for the Arsenal man as he won in five of the eight areas analysed.
He managed more shots than Defoe, three compared to one, and more shots on target, two compared to one.
That saw him bag more goals as he left with two goals to his name, while Defoe managed just the one strike from the penalty spot.

Defoe, though, did come out on top when it came to shooting accuracy, with his one shot on target seeing him leave with a 100% score in that regard.
Neither player managed to register an assist but Sanchez came out on top in terms of key passes, one compared to none, and registered more than double Defoe’s number of accurate passes.
Defoe did, however, enjoy a better overall passing accuracy overall than the Chilean. A win for Sanchez, though, who will have delighted Arsenal with another superb display.
