After an opening day defeat to Watford, Aston Villa responded in perfect fashion against Newcastle United.
Goals from Danny Ings and Anwar El Ghazi secured a 2-0 win for Dean Smith’s side as Villa got their first points on the board in the Premier League season.
Indeed, it was an overall solid performance from the hosts, with new signings Ings and Emi Buendia being standout performers for Villa against Newcastle.
And although El Ghazi was on the scoresheet for Villa, a stat has surfaced which shows that the Dutch international is still trying to find his feet in the new season.
Aston Villa Statto posted to Twitter that the former Ajax star has miscontrolled 11 passes in the first two games. The highest out of any player in the Premier League.
Indeed, whilst the winger sealed the game for Villa against Newcastle, it is a worrying stat for the attacker. And on social media, fans could not get over just how many times El Ghazi had failed to control a pass.

Although El Ghazi was one of Villa’s highest-scoring players last season, the winger has often found himself the target for criticism from supporters.
Here’s what some Villa fans had to say about El Ghazi’s surprising stat on Twitter…
