Newcastle United need to sign a striker in January, so perhaps the Magpies should target forwards from Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers and Celtic.

There can surely be no doubt that Newcastle will be hoping that they can strengthen their striker options during the January transfer window as Rafa Benitez currently appears to have few options available to him.
Their situation could become even more desperate with The Sun reporting that the Magpies are ready to cash-in on Aleksandar Mitrovic with Benitez becoming tired of his mistakes.
So perhaps, Benitez should look to the Old Firm to provide two targets, with one Celtic player they wanted in the summer thriving at Parkhead and one Rangers talent taking many by surprise with his performances.

While Griffiths’ form this season is likely to have seen his asking price increase – he has scored nine times for club and country – the Magpies should reignite their interest in him as his record with Celtic is quite staggering.

Whether Griffiths would be keen on a move when Celtic have Champions League football remains to be seen, but he would certainly be forgiven for considering the chance to make an impact in the Premier League and play for another top manager in Benitez.
Meanwhile, one player currently shining for Celtic’s bitter foes may also be worth watching after his fantastic start to life in the Scottish Premiership.
Alfredo Morelos has been sensational since joining Rangers from HJK in the summer, scoring eights goal in all competitions for the Gers.
With Morelos still just 21 and only arriving in Scotland in the summer, Newcastle moving for him would surely be much more of a gamble, but if he continues to develop at the rate he has thus far, he could prove an inspired signing if the Magpies did join the race and take that risk.
