The Serbian giant has received his work permit and is now a Birmingham City player again.
This summer Arsenal were linked with a move for former Birmingham City striker Nikola Zigic.
The 33-year-old, 6ft 8 inches tall Serbian who managed just seven goals in the Championship last season was apparently a short term option. Zigic’s agent Milan Calasan has even confirmed the approach:
“It is true. Wenger called me on Tuesday afternoon and told me that he wants to bring Zigic to Arsenal.”
But with Olivier Giroud out until January it was being reported that Arsenal were keen on his signature. Zigic himself eventually confirmed the potential deal, stating it was him or Danny Welbeck for Arsenal:
He told the International Business Times:
But Zigic has now found a new team, well, sort of. Because after being granted a work permit he has re-joined Birmingham City.
The news was confirmed on the Birmingham City Twitter feed earlier today. The striker, who played in a development game on Tuesday, is set to stay at the club until the end of the season and most are happy to see something of a cult hero return to St Andrews.
He will now hope to get back to full fitness and start banging in the goals for his beloved Birmingham City.
Welcome back Nikola!
