Some Aston Villa fans on social media have been raving over the performance of Ezri Konsa after their 1-1 draw with Newcastle United.

The centre-half was nigh on unbeatable against Newcastle, breaking down any semblance of the Magpies’ posing an attacking threat, and if it weren’t for a last minute header from Jamaal Lascelles, Villa would have left with a clean sheet.

The late goal is a blemish on Villa’s record, and it has cost them two points, but that doesn’t mean that their overall defensive performance wasn’t brilliant.

Yes, Steve Bruce’s Newcastle don’t pose much threat, but Villa’s backline still had to be alert and clean everything up, and that’s what Konsa did expertly.

The centre-half if quickly becoming one of the Premier League’s top defenders, and one has to imagine that it won’t be long before he makes his international debut.

Villa fans certainly know how good he is, and they took to social media to laud his performance against Newcastle…
