Ray Parlour gave his take on talkSPORT (7:22am, September 11, 2020) on speculation that West Ham United are planning to terminate the contract of Jack Wilshere.

According to The Daily Mail, West Ham are in talks with the former Arsenal midfielder over ending his contract.

The Hammers want to sell the 28-year-old midfielder, but there have been no offers for him, according to the report.

Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour has given his take on speculation that Wilshere could leave West Ham this summer.

Parlour said about Wilshere on talkSPORT (7:22am, September 11, 2020): “It’s such a shame. You have got to be physically fit now to be in the Premier League, and I am afraid he just can’t do it.

“I don’t know where he goes from here. If they can get a deal where they cancel his contract, he gets a pay-off, where’s his next move? That’s going to be interesting.”

Disappointing for West Ham United and Jack Wilshere

According to WhoScored, Wilshere played just 212 minutes in the Premier League for West Ham in 2019-20, while in 2018-19, he played 389 minutes in the league.

It has been a disappointing spell for Wilshere at the Hammers, as injuries have affected him at the London Stadium just as they did when he was at Arsenal.

It does make sense for the Hammers to get Wilshere off their books and save wages on a player who is unlikely to succeed.

West Ham managed to stave off the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of last season and will be hoping to push for a top-10 finish in the Premier League in 2020-21.
