Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on social media have been reacting on social media after Fabrizio Romano claimed that the north London club are still interested in Pau Torres.
What’s the story with Torres?
Romano told his Here We Go Podcast, that Spurs maintain an interest in Torres as they look to revamp their defence this month.
It has been reported that Antonio Conte wants two centre-halves through the door in January, and Torres would be a great option for the left-side of the three.
“Let’s see what happens with a centre-back. Tottenham want to sign a new centre-back in January. Pau Torres has always been on their list since last summer, but Villarreal have no intention to let him leave in January,” Romano said.
However, there could be a problem here.
Indeed, convincing Torres to join Spurs may not be an easy task. After all, he did openly admit to rejecting them last summer.
Worthwhile signing
Torres may have rejected Spurs in the summer, but it’s fair to say that a lot has changed in north London since then.
One of the best coaches in the world has arrived at Spurs, and while Tottenham aren’t currently occupying a top four spot, the future looks bright under Antonio Conte.
Torres would be a great fit for Conte’s system as a pacy left-footed centre-half, and he could be an absolute star if he does join Spurs.
