Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has taken a sly swipe at former side Liverpool by stating that he is delighted to now represent the best club in the world.
Luis Suarez finally opened his league account for Barcelona against Cordoba and took the chance to revel in his move from Liverpool to the Camp Nou.
The pressure was just starting to build on the Uruguayan international who moved from Anfield for around £65 million in the summer.
But Suarez found the net in the second half during a 5-0 win to ease any doubts being expressed about his record with Barcelona.
Suarez has already scored twice in the Champions League, including an important goal against Paris Saint-Germain in the final group game, so few fans have been getting on his back.
In his post-match interview, Suarez made a comment that could endear him to Barcelona supporters, but won’t delight Liverpool fans.
“I was able to score thanks to my teammates’ help, but I wasn’t obsessing about my first goal in La Liga. But it has finally arrived.
“I hope that this goal will be the first in a long series in a Barcelona shirt.”
