When speaking live on BBC West Midlands Radio at 17:40 on Tuesday February 21st, Baggies boss Tony Pulis explained how the be-all and end-all of football as far as he is concerned is achieving good results, rather than the manner in which he sets his team out to play.
West Brom have actually performed superbly so far this term, and currently sit in eighth position in the Premier League table.
They have far exceeded expectations, after fans and pundits alike had predicted that they would struggle before the start of the season, because of Pulis’ struggles to attract his main transfer targets to the Hawthorns.
And the West Brom manager became entrenched in a debate with a Baggies fan who called into BBC West Midlands Radio, and expressed his desire to see a better brand of football on a more regular basis at the Hawthorns:
“The important thing to understand is to work with what you’ve got. You say performances are important but results are everything. Staying in the Premier League was vital for this club to move on.”

With the Black Country outfit currently sitting just four points adrift of seventh placed Everton, and a place in the Europa League spots, any kind of criticism of Pulis is hard to fathom, irrelevant of the style of football he demands from his team, when it is considered the depths to which West Brom have sunk over previous years.
And if he does manage to guide the Baggies to European football, surely he would be totally vindicated in his pragmatic approach to the way in which he believes the game should be played.
