Jamie Carragher has told Sky Sports that Michail Antonio was ‘stupid’ after making a clumsy tackle on David Luiz in the final moments of West Ham United’s clash with Arsenal.
Antonio’s frustrations were visibly rising as West Ham saw their three goal advantage slip against Arsenal.
Antonio had already been called over and warned about dissent by Jon Moss, before he lunged into a tackle on Luiz in the 88th minute.
Luiz had robbed Antonio of the ball and travelled forward with it into a dangerous area for Arsenal.
And, with his patience wearing thin, Antonio desperately tried to win the ball back with a slide tackle for his side.
Unfortunately the challenge was mistimed and only served to earn him a booking, and leave Luiz in pain.
And Carragher said: “Well that was just frustration from Antonio. He lost the ball at the other end.
“David Luiz just done him, stepped in front in of him and he was always going to come back and try and make a challenge. He’s left one on him and it’s stupid really.”

Thankfully for Antonio his rash tackle didn’t cost his side, as Arsenal failed to make the set piece from a dangerous position count.
But Antonio’s lunging tackle rather summed up the frustrations that West Ham’s players were feeling at full-time, even after earning a credible point at the London Stadium.
