Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to comment on what happened after Everton recorded a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League last night.
What’s the story?
Well, a dramatic comeback from the Toffees means they will be playing in the Premier League next season, as they came from 2-0 down to win.
The significant victory sparked scenes of jubilation at full-time, as a pitch invasion occurred at Goodison Park.
Unfortunately, a few “stupid idiots” – as Lineker describes them – took it too far, and decided to abuse Patrick Vieira as well as some of the Crystal Palace players.
We can only imagine the ‘fan’ who abused the Frenchman didn’t watch him too often during his playing days, as the 45-year-old – unsurprisingly – was having none of it.

Vieira lashed out at his abuser, kicking him to the ground before squaring up to a small group of Everton supporters.
The Football Association, and the Merseyside Police, are now investigating the situation.
After the incident, Lineker posted the following on Twitter.
We couldn’t agree more, especially as it has been just a matter of days since Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp required stitches, following a headbutt during a pitch invasion.
Everton need to take action
There wasn’t just one pitch invasion last night, but two, as fans stormed the pitch shortly after Dominic Calvert-Lewin put Everton 3-2 ahead.
Clearly, the Toffees need to do something about the lack of security at Goodison Park, or drastic measures will be taken.
Sharp was headbutted, and something a lot worse easily could’ve happened to Vieira or the Crystal Palace players.

Sooner or later, if things like this continue to happen, fans will be blocked from being anywhere near the pitch.
The FA could potentially bring in nets to stop fans from entering, or we could see the first set of rows blocked off to keep supporters from being pitch-side.
Whatever happens, Everton – and every other club in the Premier League – cannot allow a repeat of what happened to Vieira.
