Clinton Morrison has criticised Everton defender Lucas Digne, and has raved about Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder and reported Liverpool target Ruben Neves, as quoted on BBC Sport.

The former Crystal Palace and Birmingham City forward was not impressed with the defending of left-back Digne, especially for the first goal that Wolves scored from the penalty in their 3-0 victory over Everton at home in the Premier League this afternoon.

The BBC pundit was also impressed with the performance of Neves and the impact that the 23-year-old midfielder made on the match.

Sport reported last month that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Neves and his Wolves teammate Adama Traore this summer.

Morrison told BBC Sport about Neves: “I said in commentary, ‘what a pass’, Ruben Neves just pinged it for the third goal. Diogo Jota had a lot of hard work to do. But credit to Neves, I think he was the catalyst for Wolves all afternoon.”

The BBC pundit said about Digne: “I like Lucas Digne as a defender but in the last few games it’s like he has been losing his head. It was a rash tackle and he just kicked out at Daniel Podence. Podence was going nowhere he just had to stand up.”

Morrison added: “It’s a confident penalty from a confident player who has had an outstanding season.

“It’s a deserved lead for Wolves but it was stupid defending from Lucas Digne on the stroke of half time.”

Stats

According to WhoScored, Neves took two shots which were not on target, had a pass accuracy of 89.1%, took 106 touches, played three key passes, and made five tackles, three interceptions and one clearance.

Digne took one shot which was not on target, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 60%, won two headers, took 88 touches, made two tackles, four interceptions and six clearances, and put in six crosses, according to WhoScored.
