Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison was in action for Brazil at the 2022 Qatar World Cup on Thursday, and his performance showed why Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Chelsea wanted to sign him from Everton in the summer of 2022.
Richarlison, linked with Chelsea and Arsenal in the summer transfer window before his move to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham, scored two goals for Brazil in their win against Serbia at the 2022 Qatar World Cup on Thursday evening.
The South American side won 2-0.
The Tottenham forward scored first in the 62nd minute and then on 73 minutes.
Richarlison’s second goal was world class, as he found the back of the net with an acrobatic right-footed finish.
It is still early days in the tournament, but the Brazilian’s second goal is arguably the best at the competition so far.
And former Tottenham striker and BBC Match of the Day presenter Lineker was impressed, as you can see from his tweets below.
Interestingly, Richarlison started the match for Brazil ahead of Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus.
Arsenal signed Jesus from Manchester City in the summer of 2022, but not before they had made tried to bring in Richarlison.

The forward moved from Everton to Tottenham for an initial £50 million (Sky Sports).
The 25-year-old forward was quoted as saying by talkSPORT in September 2022 that “Arsenal also contacted Everton to ask about” his situation, adding that “Chelsea made an offer”.
