Rangers are reportedly set to sign Liverpool midfielder Jordan Rossiter.
Liverpool midfielder Jordan Rossiter is set to agree a deal to join Scottish side Rangers, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Rossiter, 19, has come up through the ranks with his hometown club having joined Liverpool at the age of just six, and has made five first-team appearances for the club.
However, Rossiter’s contract expires at the end of the season, and speculation has surrounded his future for months, with no new deal seemingly on offer from the Reds.
Now, the Daily Mail report that Rossiter has agreed a four-year contract with Rangers, and will join Mark Warburton’s men when his Liverpool contract expires this summer.
The Gers will allegedly pay just £250,000 in compensation due to being outside of England, whereas English clubs would be asked to pay a whopping £8m by Liverpool, representing a potentially huge bargain for Warburton and Rangers.
Rangers fans are understandably excited about the possibility of landing Rossiter – who has earned some comparisons to Liverpool hero Steven Gerrard – in such a bargain deal, and Liverpool supporters appear to be massively disappointed.
Liverpool fans have been reacting on Twitter ever since the reports of Rossiter’s move to Rangers emerged, and most believe that Rangers are landing a promising young player with great potential, even admitting that they’re ‘stunned’ to see him leave.
Many supporters can’t believe that Liverpool are letting Rossiter go, and think he’s been one of the club’s most promising young players in recent years – all of which should be exciting for Rangers as they prepare to unveil Rossiter as their newest signing.
