Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to Serge Aurier’s Instagram story amid speculation about his future.
With Aurier’s future at Spurs in doubt – he hasn’t started a game for the North London club this season – there are rumours that he could be heading for the exit door.
One club that has emerged to possibly sign him is the French outfit, Lille, according to Fabrizio Romano.
But Aurier expressed his love for his former club Lens – bitter rivals of Lille – on Instagram as a possible hint as to what he thinks of that speculation.
Tottenham fans feel that shows that he might now stay put at the club this summer, with days remaining until the transfer window slams shut.
It’s pretty clear that the fans want Aurier to leave, especially given some of the car-crash performance he has produced over the years.
Plus, it also seems that Japhet Tanganga and Matt Doherty are ahead of Aurier in the right-back pecking order.
So, Lille might not be Aurier’s next destination, but leaving for the exit door should still be looked at.
Although, a move to Lille shouldn’t entirely be ruled out because Aurier is a boyhood Arsenal and he did still end up joining Spurs.
So, in that regard, you never know. Although, he may point towards that Spurs move in 2017, when he signed for £23 million (BBC Sport), being life-changing given that he swapped Ligue 1 for the Premier League.
