Nottingham Forest have fallen further away from the playoff picture with four games remaining in the Championship.
Stuart Pearce has urged Nottingham Forest supporters to be ‘patient’ with Martin O’Neill following a couple of bad results which has resulted in them falling out of the playoff picture.
Over the weekend, Forest suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Blackburn Rovers in what was their third consecutive loss in the league.
As a result, a number of fans have seemingly become restless and Pearce was asked on talkSPORT (13/04/2019 at 8:30 pm) what message he would have for those supporters.
“You have got a manager there with a rich history of being successful of wherever he’s been,” Pearce told talkSPORT. “He knows the club inside out, so does Roy [Keane].
“It’s the time to be patient at Nottingham Forest and I’ve said that time and time again. I said that when I was the manager there. By chopping and changing your manager or even suggesting it isn’t helpful to the football club.”
Five defeats in eight matches isn’t helpful to any team in the Championship, especially one chasing promotion to the Premier League.
Those losses have resulted in Forest falling further down the table and they are now sitting in 11th place, eight points behind sixth-placed Bristol City, who have a game in hand.
Hopes of finishing in the top-six have faded for another season, but O’Neill will be hoping he can use his experience to guide the two-time European Cup winners back to the promised land next season.
The fixtures get even tougher for Forest and O’Neill because on Friday they travel to Yorkshire for a tricky away clash against automatic-chasers Sheffield United.
