Stuart Pearce shares what West Ham United should do in the summer, praises Felipe Anderson

West Ham United will be looking to secure a European place in the Premier League next season.

Stuart Pearce has shared that West Ham United should move on players who have been at the club ‘for a little while’ as he praises the improvement in Felipe Anderson’s game.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Southampton on Saturday, with Marko Arnautovic netting a brace and Ryan Fredericks also getting on the scoresheet.

Speaking to TalkSport (04/05/2019 at 8:00 pm), former England man Pearce shared his thoughts on the Hammers, their summer signings and what they should do.

“West Ham are a big club in London,” Pearce told TalkSport. “They are stable now as they have been for a number of years. They have done pretty well. I think their recruitment has been a little bit mixed.

“But the players that have come in, Fabianski and Anderson and the emergence of Rice has really benefited the team. And Yarmelonko had he not got injured started quite well. Some of the acquisitions have been pretty good. What they need to do as a club is a move one or two on that have been for a little while and recruit once again this summer.

“There’s a real mix bag of foreign nationals and obviously the likes of Noble at the club and Ricey that are the core English players as well. He [Anderson] has been a great acquisition. I think he’s done really well this year and he’s worked a little bit harder on his defensive work which has helped his team as well.”

West Ham’s summer signings this season have been a lot better from what has walked through the doors on previous occasions.

Versatile attacker Anderson has been one of those players that has impressed since joining the club last summer and he will be looking to add to that next season.

But before the season ends, Manuel Pellegrini’s side will be looking to secure a top ten finish in the Premier League table, with Watford standing in their way.

Javi Gracia’s side were thumped 3-0 by Chelsea on Sunday and the Hornets will now host the Hammers on the final day of the season with the winner securing a top-ten finish.
