Stuart Pearce has shared that Declan Rice has been told by those at West Ham United ‘don’t show the world that you are knackered’ after making a bursting run.

The West Ham coach added that Rice has a tendency to ‘look tired’ after a bursting run from the middle of the park.

One of the most improved areas of Rice’s game has been his ability to carry the ball from deep.

Whether it’s the fifth minute of the game, or in stoppage-time, the hard-hitting midfielder doesn’t stop going from box-to-box.

Pearce was talking about how Rice has this kind of walk after a bursting run that indicates he is tired, but it’s something he has been told not to show, as he told talkSPORT.

“It’s something we have tried to say to him,” said Pearce. “Don’t show the world that you are knackered.

“The thing is he will go again and again and again. His body language, at times, looks tired after a little burst.”

At the age of 23, Rice has the legs to run around that pitch all day and all night long.

It’s later on in his career that he will have to tone it down, but for now, he can now put his foot on the accelerator.

On Saturday, Rice came off the bench to help England record a 2-1 win over Switzerland in a friendly encounter.

He might just be in line to start against the Ivory Coast and possibly take the captain’s armband if Harry Kane doesn’t start.
