Tottenham Hotspur start their Champions League campaign with a match against Monaco later this evening.
Stuart Pearce has told Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 14th September, that Tottenham Hotspur will do well in the Champions League this season.

Spurs are set to play in front of around 90,000 supporters in the fixture, and Pearce believes that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have the quality to compete both in the Premier League and the Champions League this season.
“I think they should be better [than last season],” Pearce said. “The young players in Tottenham’s side should have more experience and know what it’s like to be at the top end of the Premier League.
“I expect a better side. I think the Champions League will be a bonus, and they’ll do pretty well. I think it’ll be an occasion when they turn up and play their home games at Wembley.”
Pochettino has publicly stated that he has challenged his Spurs team to win the Premier League this season, but the Lilywhites have invested in their squad to try and ensure that they have enough depth to compete both domestically and in Europe.
Tottenham have been drawn in a group which gives them a good chance of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League. Spurs face matches against Monaco, Bayer Leverkusen and CSKA Moscow.
Tottenham last played in the Champions League in the 2010/11 season, when Real Madrid knocked them out at the quarter final stages.
