Stuart Pearce looks ahead to Nottingham Forest’s Championship clash against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce has been speaking on the absence of Britt Assombalonga for Saturday’s clash against Charlton Athletic.
The 21-year-old striker will miss the Championship match against the Addicks at the City Ground due to suspension.
Assombalonga is the current top scorer in the second tier of English football with 12 goals, and it is a headache for Pearce to play without him.
However, the 52-year-old believes that Forest can cope without their star striker and is quoted as saying by the club’s official website: “Someone’s going to have the opportunity to start the game.
“We’re going to have to make at least one change and that’s what the squad situation is all about. I’m pretty certain which way I’m going to go at this moment in time. Sometimes that changes nearer the game.
“We might have a practice game today against the youngsters and I’ll sit with the coaching staff this afternoon and decide what direction we’re going to go for.”
Pearce has not named who will replace Assombalonga in attack against Charlton, but it will be a hard task for anyone.
Besides scoring 12 goals in 19 Championship appearances, the youngster has created 14 chances for his teammates, has a 76% pass accuracy and a 39% shot accuracy, and has won 36% of his duels.
Forest are currently ninth in the league table with 28 points from 19 matches, just three points behind sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers.
