Tottenham Hotspur’s dominant 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the weekend certainly raised a lot of questions regarding this season’s title race.
Many are now tipping the unbeaten North London side to made a surge for the title and, as reported by Sky Sports, ex-City manager Stuart Pearce tends to agree that Spurs are one of the main contenders to win the league this campaign.
“They are strong, strong contenders,” Pearce told Sky Sports News HQ. “The same can be said for Arsenal and Liverpool at this time. There are question marks about Manchester United, who have been a little bit up and down. And they haven’t found the formula yet at Chelsea.”
“This was typical of goals change games. It gave Spurs a massive lift and shook the Man City invincibility tag that we’ve been talking about this season,” Pearce added.

“Tottenham proved maybe Harry Kane and Dembele were not a bigger loss than we thought they might be. It was a great result for them.”
Pearce himself has been out of a job since being dismissed from Nottingham Forest in February 2015, with his reign at Manchester City lasting from 2005 to 2007.

The win at the weekend came courtesy of a Dele Alli strike and an Aleksandar Kolarov own goal, with Erik Lamela missing the chance to make it three from the penalty spot.
His comments have been echoed by fans and pundits around the country following the victory, with many believing that Pochettino is leading Spurs into a new golden era. They will attempt to continue their fine run of form after the international break when they face West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.
