West Ham are keen on Brighton’s Lewis Dunk.
Dunk played a key role in Brighton winning promotion in 2016/17 and has excelled in the Premier League this season.
West Ham have just appointed new manager David Moyes, and his choice of assistant may be behind West Ham’s fresh interest in Dunk.
Assistant manager Stuart Pearce knows Dunk well, having managed him at under-21 level at England.
Pearce called Dunk up to the squad in 2011 to get a look at him, although the defender did not actually win a cap.
While Moyes may have come to the conclusion himself quite easily that Dunk is a player worth signing, having Pearce on board to discuss it with will have helped – and it could even have been the assistant who suggested him.
Even with the Pearce connection, securing Dunk will not be easy for West Ham.
The defender has starred for Brighton since coming through their academy, and having finally helped them reach the top flight, he may not be ready to walk away.
