Leeds United returned to winning ways in the Championship at the weekend, as they got the better of Bristol City 3-0 away from home.

The performance of Leeds at the Ashton Gate Stadium on Saturday afternoon was one of their best so far this season and was full of conviction.

The win brought an end to the West Yorkshire outfit’s three-game losing streak, and the Elland Road faithful must hope that the team can now push on.

As things stand, Thomas Christiansen’s side are fourth in the Championship with 23 points from 13 matches.

Leeds are four points behind second-placed Cardiff City and six points behind leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers, who appear to be the favourites for the league title at the moment.

The Whites have not featured in the Premier League since 2004 and narrowly failed to clinch a playoff spot last season.

Could the 2017-18 season prove to be more fruitful for Leeds? Can the Elland Road outfit finish in the top two of Championship and get automatic promotion to the Premier League?

Former Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce seems to think so, as he said on the Sky Sports Daily show on Sky Sports News on Monday morning (11:27am, October 23, 2017) when asked if Leeds can be in the mix for the top two: “Yes, no doubt about that.

“I watched the game up at Sunderland a few weeks ago, and they were outstanding, I have got to say. Defensively very strong, played a real open game, sort of five players defending, five attacking almost.”

Pearce added: “They have goals in their team. I like their defensive partnership. I think It’s very good.”
