Stuart Pearce has claimed that Dominic Calvert-Lewin made life ‘very, very uncomfortable’ for the West Ham players during their 2-0 defeat to Everton on Saturday.

Striker Calvert-Lewin has become a regular in Marco Silva’s starting XI and despite not getting on the scoresheet against the Hammers, he did cause problems with his work rate and off-the-ball movement.

In the game itself, the Toffees secured a deserved and comfortable three points at the London Stadium, with centre-back Kurt Zouma scoring inside the first five minutes and Bernard doubling his side’s lead just before the break.

Speaking to Matchday Live on talkSPORT (30/03/2019 at 7:15 pm), former England international Pearce was pleased with what he saw from Everton’s frontman.

“He’s led the line really well,” Pearce told talkSPORT. “His energy, driving into those forward areas, dragging centre-halves out of position. He’s made it very, very uncomfortable for them.”

It was a much-needed victory for Everton, their fans, their players and most importantly their manager who has come under pressure in recent months.

The Merseyside club have struggled to show any consistencies both in the Premier League and during cup competitions which has seen some supporters question his position at the club.

But after recording two wins on the bounce and securing back-to-back clean sheets in the process, Silva will be looking forward and hoping his team can potentially break into the top seven.

At this moment in time, they are sitting ninth in the table, five points ahead of 13th-placed Bournemouth and one point behind seventh-placed Wolves, who have a game in hand.
