Stuart Pearce broke Nottingham Forest’s transfer record to sign Britt Assombalonga.
Stuart Pearce has told Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 29th December, that Hull City should target Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga in the January transfer window.
Pearce broke Forest’s transfer record to bring Assombalonga to the City Ground from Peterborough United back in 2014.
And Pearce now feels that the 24-year-old is ready to make the step up to Premier League action.

The former England international defender feels that Hull should have their sights set on bringing in Assombalonga, as he would be the perfect signing for a team in the Tigers’ current position.
“If I was in their position at the moment, I’d look at who has done well in the Championship – whether that be an Assombalonga, or someone like that. And I’d say ‘come on, come and join us’,” Pearce said.
“You’re then prepared for the league below, if eventuality throws itself up.”

Assombalonga has scored prolifically for Forest at Championship level, but he is still fighting to get back to full fitness.
Assombalonga suffered a serious knee injury, and Forest have been keen not to overwork their main goalscorer this season.
As a result, the Congolese-born forward has only made 10 Championship appearances this season, and scored six goals.
Hull, meanwhile, are currently sat at the bottom of the Premier League table, after collecting just 12 points from their first 18 matches.
Mike Phelan’s side are already four points adrift of safety, and they will have to improve considerably if they are to get out of trouble.
