Mark Warburton’s Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers visit Celtic on Saturday.
Rangers legend Stuart McCall has told TV Yorkshire that he expects the Gers to earn a draw with Celtic in Saturday’s Old Firm derby at Parkhead.
Rangers make the trip to Paradise this weekend in what will be the first local meeting between the sides in a Premiership setting since 2012.
Parkhead will be hopping regardless, but the encounter perhaps takes on extra significance given the fact that Mark Warburton’s side can usurp Celtic – who have played one game less – at the summit of the table if they win.
Warburton’s troops won the last encounter on penalties to book their spot in the Scottish Cup final and although it will be a different Hoops side this time around – with Brendan Rodgers replacing Ronny Deila in the summer – it’s also a different Rangers.
The 53-year-old manager brought no fewer than 12 players to Ibrox this summer – including the likes of Niko Kranjcar and Joey Barton – and though McCall acknowledges that the champions will be favourites, he says a draw is the most likely outcome.
“Celtic will go into it as favourites, but if Rangers can score first then we’ve got game on,” the 52-year-old, who spent seven years at Ibrox as a player, told TV Yorkshire. “My head will say a draw but my heart will say 2-1 Rangers.”
