Leeds United have made a change behind the scenes.

Leeds United club secretary Stuart Hayton left the club yesterday after 15 months at Elland Road – as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

BBC West Yorkshire Sport have reported that Leeds United relieved Hayton of his duties, rather than the man stepping down at Elland Road.

Hayton arrived at the club in May of last year, following spells at Wigan Athletic and Liverpool. His arrival was part of a behind scenes revamp at Leeds United – which also saw Adam Pearson arrive as club director and Uwe Rosler named as head coach.

Hayton may have lasted longer than that pair but his time at Leeds has also now come to an end.

The reasons behind his exit are unknown – but immediate fingers will point at Leeds United’s controversial owner Massimo Cellino.

But, on Twitter yesterday, Hayton retweeted this message suggesting no rift with the Italian:

Leeds will no doubt now be looking to employ someone new in the position, or indeed restructure management to cover all their bases.

Leeds United fans are used to changes in the hierarchy and will no doubt take the latest news with a pinch of salt.
