Defender Stuart Findlay has been told he will leave when his Newcastle United contract expires this summer.
Findlay moved to Newcastle from Celtic two years ago, but has only played once for the Magpies – during a 3-1 win against Birmingham City in last season’s FA Cup third round.
The 22-year-old was then loaned to Kilmarnock at the start of the current campaign, and has gone on to make 30 appearances there – scoring twice.
“They (Newcastle) have told me I will leave,” Findlay said in quotes published by the Scottish Herald on Monday. “There’s always speculation but all I know is that I’m loving it here and loving it working under a magnificent manager (Steve Clarke).
“I’m at an age where I need to play football and at the best level I can and at the moment I’m loving everything that’s happening here.”
Findlay is one of eight players out of contract at Newcastle this summer, along with Jesus Gamez, Massadio Haidara, Curtis Good, Alex Gilliead, Yasin Ben El-Mhanni, Callum Williams and Tom Heardman.
The Celtic academy product has started eight of Kilmarnock’s last nine Scottish Premiership fixtures, and looks good for a permanent return to Fir Park – where ex-Toon coach Clarke is the manager.
