Stuart Dallas has suggested that not everyone would have been pleased to see him look to shoot ahead of Leeds United’s second goal against Birmingham.
Stuart Dallas has suggested to LUTV that he probably annoyed some people when he decided to try and get into the box before he scored Leeds’ second goal in their victory over Birmingham on Tuesday.
Leeds knew that they could have potentially gone top of the Championship with a win against a Blues side that had lost their previous four before the clash at Elland Road.
However, the Blues caused Thomas Christiansen’s men several problems, setting up a nervy final period of the game for Leeds, who were 1-0 up thanks to a Samuel Saiz goal during the first-half.
But Dallas made the game safe in the dying minutes as he cut inside from the wing and found the back of the net to confirm the three points and that Leeds would be heading to the top of the table.
But the winger has conceded that some would not have been best pleased to see him try and attack the goal rather than look to run the clock down.
“I’m grateful that I’ve got the goal tonight but I think there was a few people probably shouting at me to take it into the corner. The defender showed me inside and I’ve got to go and hit it and thankfully it went in.”
Though the more sensible option may have been to take the ball into the corner, Leeds fans will be delighted with the Northern Irishman’s decision as it killed the game off slightly earlier and would have surely given Dallas a decent boost of confidence.
