It certainly hasn’t been a season to remember for Leeds United so far.

The Whites are seriously struggling in the Premier League and, if they don’t buck up their ideas soon, they could find themselves back in the Championship before long.

Far too many of Leeds’ star players have underperformed this term, while injuries have also played a massive part in the Yorkshire club’s recent struggles.

However, despite the fact there’s a feeling of doom and gloom around Elland Road right now, one player has been a shining beacon of hope.

Of course, we’re talking about Raphinha.

The Brazilian has been incredible this season and, somehow, he’s built on what was an absolutely incredible debut Premier League season.

He’s carried this team on his back time and again to the extent Marcelo Bielsa’s side has sometimes resembled a one-man team this season.

He’s the club’s top scorer and making an impact on a weekly basis.

Unfortunately the winger is enjoying his purple patch in the midst of what has been Leeds’ worst season so far under Bielsa. Raphinha’s dazzling tricks and goalscoring prowess haven’t been enough to drag the Whites to many points.

However, if Raphinha can carry this form into 2022, Leeds will continue to have a fighting chance in the Premier League. In our view, he’s a shoo-in for the club’s player of the year award.

Stuart Dallas may have been crowned the Whites’ player of the year last term, but it looks as though his crown is heading the way of Raphinha.
