The goalkeeper made a fine stop at 1-1 v Blackburn Rovers.
Leeds’ Robert Green in action
Leeds United took on Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road in a crucial match, which eventually saw them come away with a win.
It was a game that could have swung either way, but Kyle Bartley’s header won Leeds the game after Chris Wood’s opener had been cancelled out by Marvin Emnes’ strike for the visitors.
At 1-1 Leeds’ new goalkeeper Rob Green made a crucial double save to deny Blackburn the lead and in hindsight that proved a key moment.
Blackburn’s Jason Lowe in action with Leeds’ Stuart Dallas
Speaking after the game to LUTV winger Stuart Dallas, back in the Leeds starting XI after a slow start to the season, praised Green and the general defending of the team in their victory:
“It was (a crucial moment). They had a bit of momentum.
“They pushed us back then for a little bit. But we showed great courage, we defended well again tonight.
“They get back into it but Robbo makes those two saves and we obviously get the winner.
“It was going to be one of those games. We have got to win our home games and that’s a big win for us tonight.”
Leeds United’s Robert Green looks dejected
Green will no doubt be pleased to have made a positive impact. The former England international has not had a smooth transition back into regular playing time with Leeds. He has looked shaky at the start of his Leeds career, including a mistake in his first game for the club v former team QPR on the opening day of the campaign.
But he might just be getting his match sharpness back again after a lengthy period on the sidelines at Loftus Road. Which will be massive for Leeds, as a top form Green can certainly save them several points this season.
