Stuart Dallas comments should excite Leeds United fans

Leeds United will face Bolton Wanderers in the Championship this weekend.

Stuart Dallas arrived at Leeds United in the summer of 2015 amid much hype and expectation.

The Northern Ireland international had been a success at Brentford, and the £1.3 million transfer fee that Leeds paid for him – as reported by Sky Sports – was worth it.

Dallas played well for Leeds during the 2015-16 campaign, scoring five goals and provided six assists in 38 Championship starts.

Last season, though, the winger could make only 20 starts in the league, scoring two goals and providing three assists in the process.

One of the main reasons why the 26-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, failed to perform to his best last season was because of lack of a proper pre-season.

The former Brentford star was away at the 2016 European Championship in France with Northern Ireland, and he is delighted to have had a proper pre-season this time around.

“It’s really the first pre-season I’ve had since I came to Leeds,” Dallas told The Yorkshire Evening Post.

“Even thinking back to when I was at Brentford, I didn’t really have a proper pre-season (because of international duty) so it’s been good for me. I feel fit and I’m ready to go.”

Pre-season is very important for any footballer, and Dallas has done well in the summer friendly matches.

Leeds fans should be looking forward to watching the 26-year-old in action this season, as he could prove to be a very important and exciting player for the Whites.

The Whites will kick off their 2017-18 Championship campaign with a game against Bolton Wanderers away from home at the Macron Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

“It’s pretty important that we get off to a good start,” said Dallas ahead of the match. “Going to Bolton, we’re under no illusions about how hard it’ll be but we’re going there expecting to win.

“We can only take one game at a time and that’s maybe been the problem before. We’ve maybe looked too far ahead of ourselves.”
