Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong has told The Scottish Sun that his teammate Scott Brown has been exceptional this season.

Brown is one of the best midfielders in the Scottish Premiership and has been playing well for Celtic this campaign.

The 31-year-old midfielder has had injury concerns in recent years, but he is now fully fit and is a key member in Brendan Rodgers’s team.

The former Hibernian star, though, failed to make the shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year award.

Armstrong, who is 25 years of age and has also been in great form this season, has admitted his surprise at Brown’s absence from the list. The Scotland international midfielder has also showered praise on his teammate.

“It’s always nice to be voted for by your fellow players and to be up there on the shortlist with the rest of the boys,” Armstrong told The Scottish Sun.

“But I’m surprised Scott isn’t there. He has been terrific this season. This season he’s been exceptional, an ever-present force for us in the middle of the park.

“In every game he’s influential. Sometimes his is the work that gets overlooked, but he is so vital to our squad. His importance to us cannot be understated. He epitomises Celtic in a lot of ways.”

Celtic have already won the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish League Cup this season, and have progressed to the final of the Scottish Cup.

The Glasgow giants are still unbeaten in domestic competitions this campaign, and there is a very good chance that they will not lose a single match between now and the end of the season.
