Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong has admitted to The Daily Record that he was disappointed with his goal tally last season.

Armstrong, who joined the Glasgow giants from Dundee United in February 2015, has said that he is happy to be scoring goals for Celtic at the moment.

The 24-year-old former Scotland Under-21 international has conceded that he was disappointed to score only four goals last season.

“I’ve wanted to add goals to my game here,” Armstrong told The Daily Record. “I was averaging 10 a season at Dundee United so last season was disappointing to only get four.

“I’ve got three so far but hopefully I can keep building on it and getting in to positions where I can add to my tally.

“I think I’m more comfortable in this position I am operating in the middle. I feel I can get in to better positions and move about the team and in to goal scoring positions more naturally.”

Armstrong is a very good and talented midfielder, and the 24-year-old is going to be important for the Bhoys as the season progresses.

The former Dundee United midfielder adds something different to Brendan Rodgers’s midfield.

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 34 points from 12 matches.

The Glasgow giants are 10 points clear of second-placed Aberdeen and have a game in hand.

The Bhoys will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Spanish giants Barcelona at Celtic Park in Champions League Group C.

Celtic are at the bottom of the group with just two points from four matches and may not even drop to the Europa League.
