Leeds United winger Hadi Sacko was a late substitute in the club’s opening win over Bolton Wanderers but his contribution did not really go to plan.
The 23-year-old had only six minutes to affect the game, and fluffed his two chances to affect the game.
After running the ball into the corner on a counter attack, Sacko could have crossed the ball or kept it away from Bolton, and did neither, being brushed off the ball after taking one touch too many.
He later then had a chance to score Leeds’ fourth when the ball fell to him in the box before mis-kicking the ball and failing to register a shot.
Leeds saw some of this last season when he was on his loan from Sporting Lisbon, but there was enough promise to convince them to buy him permanently for £1.5 million.
The frustrating part of course is Sacko gets into such good positions and threatens to make an impact.
His disappointing cameo against Bolton underlined that he still has plenty of work to do and there has been no summer transformation.
Sacko will hope he will still get picked for Leeds’ midweek EFL Cup game against Port Vale.
He will have to do better than his brief display at the weekend, especially with Northern Ireland international winger Stuart Dallas not even on the bench against Bolton.
