Jamie Redknapp says if he was Cristian Romero then he would ‘struggle’ to return to Tottenham Hotspur after winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina.
The Spurs defender started Argentina’s penalty shootout win over France on Sunday, and since then, he has been in party mode.

For the first time since 1986, Argentina are champions of the world, added to the fact that Lionel Messi has secured the trophy he craved most.
But domestic football is around the corner, with Spurs taking on Brentford on Boxing Day and Redknapp doesn’t think Romero will be available, as he told Sky Sports News (20/12/22).
“The top four. Who knows what happens to Romero at Tottenham,” said Redknapp. “How long before he comes back and he is ready to come back from Argentina?
“I think I would struggle to come back. I would have a few weeks off after that. I would be partying in Argentina for as long as I possibly can. I do feel this might be difficult to get some players back on time. There will be a few players being missed, no doubt.”
ROMERO PROVES HIS WORTH
At Tottenham, Romero has been a popular figure with the fans because of his no-nonsense style and how he would do everything or anything to win.
After a very poor showing when Argentina were beaten by Saudi Arabia for their World Cup opener, including from Romero himself, he bounced back in some style.
He has now tasted that ultimate trophy success, it’s just a case of trying to transform that onto the domestic stage with Spurs.
