Roy Keane thinks Liverpool now have the ‘stronger’ squad than Manchester City and highlighted their recent FA Cup semi-final win as proof of that, as he told ITV Sport.

The legendary midfielder added that there is ‘more quality’ off the bench from Liverpool, especially the attacking players Jurgen Klopp can pick from.

On Saturday, the Reds beat Man City 3-2 with Klopp being able to rotate his players from their midweek Champions League game against Benfica.

The likes of Virgil van Dijk, their fullback duo and Mo Salah were all rested in midweek, with Liverpool still progressing into the Champions League semi-finals.

That then allowed those players to be fresh for their Wembley showdown against Man City, which saw them rip their Premier League title rivals apart in the first half.

Nonetheless, Keane was asked who he thinks has the stronger squad between the two and he didn’t mince his words when answering the question.

“I think Liverpool’s squad is stronger now,” said Keane. “I think so. More quality off the bench, especially their attacking players.

“I know they have the momentum, at the moment. But Man City are still quality.

“But, in terms of the strength in depth, I think we saw that (in the semi-final). Obviously, they had to make one or two more changes because of the midweek game.

“But I think their squad is better, Liverpool’s.”

For a number of seasons, many would have agreed, including those in Liverpool colours that Man City have the depth in quality.

But, in recent times, the likes of Diogo Jota, Thiago, Ibrahima Konate and Luis Diaz have made quite the difference.

Then there are the likes of Naby Keita improving their game, which only adds to their quality and makes them a better all-round outfit.

Either way, that depth in quality might now prove to be the difference in the Reds possibly adding multiple trophies to their cabinet this term because they are currently heading down that road.
