Tottenham Hotspur were made to work hard by Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday.
Spurs went ahead thanks to a penalty from Harry Kane in the first half. Tariq Lamptey levelled the scoring in controversial circumstances, and it looked like one of those games where Tottenham would miss out on a victory.
Jose Mourinho had to change something, and the Spurs boss brought on Gareth Bale. The Welshman was left unmarked in the box and he headed the ball home for Spurs for the first time in over seven years.
That was a massive goal for Spurs. The win took them up to second in the table. Fans have been discussing the possibility of Tottenham winning the Premier League and, if Graham Potter’s words are anything to go by, it is a serious possibility.
Potter was hugely impressed with Spurs’ start to the season. He claimed in his pre-match press conference that Mourinho’s men are ‘the best team’ he has seen so far this term (Read more).
After going toe-to-toe with Spurs for 90 minutes, Potter’s opinion doesn’t seem to have changed as he has again claimed that Tottenham are ‘as strong as anybody’ in the Premier League.
He told Sky Sports in his post-match interview, as quoted by BBC (9:28 pm): “We played well for big periods of the game and pushed Tottenham all the way. A lot of positives for us, you need the fine margins to go your way.
“The second goal was disappointing, we can do better and up until that point, we were pushing and pushing. They can bring on Gareth Bale. They are as strong as anybody I have seen so far.”

Are Tottenham really stronger than their top-six rivals?
The start to this Premier League season has been a strange one. Every team has lost at least one game already, and a few of the usual favourites for the title have had some big problems so far.
Manchester City and Manchester United are 10th and 15th in the league respectively, while Chelsea’s defence has let them down a few times. Liverpool will be without Virgil van Dijk for most of this campaign, and their start to the campaign hasn’t been as good as Jurgen Klopp would have liked.
Arsenal have lost three games already, while early-season surprise packages Everton and Aston Villa are dropping off. Tottenham, with their key men firing and with a serial winner like Mourinho at the helm, have every chance, but it will not be easy.
