RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko could well be the missing key for Arsenal as the Gunners prepare to make an assault on the Premier League title once again.

Since moving to the German side, young forward Benjamin Sesko has continued to grow and developed at Red Bull Leipzig and this summer may well be the time that the Slovenian international moves on.

HITC have reported that Arsenal are ready to press ahead with their interest in the 21-year-old following his impressive performances in the Bundesliga.

Crucially for Arsenal, Sesko is also understood to have told his agents that he wants to join Mikel Arteta’s side in the summer which would be a welcomed boost for the North London club as they look set to battle for the title.

Sesko’s footballing idol and comparisons to Haaland

The Arsenal target could well be the centre-forward signing that the Gunners need to finally lift the Premier League title, come May. If Sesko’s footballing idol is anything to go by, Arsenal could have a superb player on their hands.

“Zlatan Ibrahimovic was my idol,” he told the Guardian last year. “I’m not saying I play like him but he was having fun, enjoying himself on the pitch, doing what he wanted to do. It makes me really happy when I see that kind of player. Every single video I could find, I was looking at him.”

Despite the Slovenian forward idolising Zlatan Ibrahimovic, it is another striker that he has, perhaps unsurprisingly been likened to.

“Such comparisons motivate me and give me energy,” Šeško said previously of being likened to Manchester City forward Erling Haaland. “They do not represent pressure. I will listen and learn so I can be even better than he is. My teammates at the club tell me that Haaland and I are very similar, especially in terms of speed. Most of them even tell me that I’m better than him!”

Sesko key for winning Arsenal title

The addition of a new centre-forward is understood to be high on the list of priorities for Arsenal this upcoming transfer window, as well as a new midfielder, with Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi understood to be the preferred choice.

If Arsenal were to pull off the signing of Sesko, this would be the revolutionary addition that the Gunners have needed. With 14 goals and two assists in the Bundesliga this season, he has the goalscoring prowess needed.

The Slovenian’s non-penalty expected goals rate is 0.49 per 90, which suggests with the chances he creates, he should be scoring a goal once every two game.

With the creative talent of Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli behind him, these numbers look set to only increase. Arsenal have to do whatever necessary to sign him.
