In form striker Joshua King has been urged to stay put at Bournemouth by former mentor and compatriot Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

King has been in tremendous form this season, surpassing expectations to notch 15 goals already.

The 25-year-old’s form has seen him linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, with The Mail reporting the club are keen on a move for the forward, valued at around £15 million.

King responded this week by saying he was flattered by the interest, telling Norwegian outlet Nettavisen that he was happy to be recognised.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer knows his fellow Norwegian better than most, having helped mentor him at Manchester United while he was in the club’s academy.

He urges King to stay put, telling Romsdals Budstikke yesterday: “Right now is a good time for him to be firm in Bournemouth.

“Where he plays at his all, and get his head down and perform at peak level every game. It is something else to be one of four class strikers that rotates at the positions in a bigger club.”

Solskjaer has his own experience of snubbing Tottenham Hotspur.

Back in 1998 he turned down a move despite a fee being agreed for him to switch from Manchester United. One year later he scored the winning goal in the Champions League final.

The same glory does not await fr King at Bournemouth next season, but playing regularly may be better for his progression than sitting on Tottenham’s bench behind Harry Kane.
