To say West Ham are having trouble in front of goal this season would be an understatement.

The Hammers can’t buy a goal at the moment, they’ve scored just three times in seven Premier League games, and their new star signing, Gianluca Scamacca, is yet to score in the league.

Indeed, it’s fair to say that West Ham could do with more of a cutting edge in their attack, and somewhat ironically, a striker they sold a few years ago is proving to be one of the most clinical strikers in Europe this season.

Enner Valencia, remember him? Is absolutely flying over in Turkey with Fenerbahce.

The South American forward had an ill-fated spell with the Hammers between 2014 and 2017, scoring just eight goals in 54 league appearances, but he’s already almost matched that tally in five games this season.

Valencia has scored seven goals in his first five matches this term, while he also has two assists to his name.

Granted, this is the Turkish Super Lig, so it’s not the highest of standards, but after West Ham’s torrid start to this season in an attacking sense, we have to wonder whether or not Valencia would be an asset to David Moyes’ team right now.

Interestingly Valencia made his name at the 2014 World Cup with Ecuador, and ahead of Qatar 2022, he seems to be finding his best form once again.

Don’t be shocked at all if Valencia builds on his three goals from 2014 this winter and makes a few headlines over in Qatar.

Who knows? With his good form in Turkey and a World Cup stage on the horizon, maybe, just maybe Valencia can do enough to earn himself a move back to the Premier League. After all, there are a few clubs who could do with a striker of this calibre, including his former employers.
