Newcastle United and Leicester City should consider a swap deal involving two of their strikers.
Newcastle United’s Aleksandar Mitrovic
Magpies striker Aleksandar Mitrović has been linked with the St James’ Park exit door over the past few months, as he continues to cut an extremely divisive figure in the north east.
He has never really lived up to his reputation, after joining Newcastle from Anderlecht in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be in the region of £14.5 million.
Another Premier League striker who has struggled to settle at his club is Foxes hitman Islam Slimani, with the Algerian scoring just seven goals during his debut campaign in England.
So could a potential swap deal involving the two players be the ideal solution for both clubs?
The Toon’s 22-year-old striker is undoubtedly talented, but certainly didn’t receive the opportunity to showcase his true potential on a regular basis under Rafa Benitez last season, and a change of scenery might be just what he needs to help reinvigorate his career.
He would be a perfect fit for the Leicester side, and the way they set up. His attributes mean that he would compliment the skills of Jamie Vardy perfectly, and the pair could form a potent ‘little and large’ partnership.

Slimani, on the other hand, could have a similar impact with the Magpies. He is a lethal finisher, and tremendously strong in the air, which would make him the perfect partner for Dwight Gayle.
Whilst there is a considerable age gap between the two players (Slimani – 29, Mitrovic – 22) their respective values should not be too dissimilar, considering the fact that the Foxes paid close to £30 million to bring the Algeria international to the King Power Stadium last summer.
And a swap deal, even if it involves some cash going one way or the other, could be an ideal outcome for all parties concerned.
